The clydebank asbestos group is a support group for mesothelioma and asbestosis victims and their families, established back in 1992. The group is located in the area with the highest risk of mesothelioma, asbestosis and other asbestos related diseases in Europe. The group holds periodical conferences for workers and asbestos victims, where they explain the risks, how they can be avoided and how to start treatment if asbestos exposure already occurred.
Clydebank Asbestos Group activities
The clydebank asbestos group activates in a lot of mesothelioma and asbestos related disease fields, these are some of them:
- requested a public inquiry of several cases of workers being exposed to asbestos at their work place
- held a large campaign against asbestos products
- the group invited the government to help their cause on several occasions
The Clydebank Asbestos Group helps any kind of asbestos sufferer, regardless of the disorder he or she might be suffering of, pleural plaque, mesothelioma or other asbestos related conditions. The group provides with legal information for the victims and their families and most of them are entitled to compensation and can file a claim to protect their rights. One of the most important campaigns held by the Clydebank Asbestos Group was the ALIMTA campaign, where they promoted the new drug, and helped patients try it before it was released to the general public, in its' testing phase.
Future work of the Clydebank Asbestos Group
The group will not stop very soon, and with that idea in mind, here are some future activities the group is planning:
- Chrysotile ban (stop the mining of asbestos)
- Asbestos Awareness Day (a one day conference on asbestos issues)
- Publications Group (regular meetings discussing possible publications helping on spreading the word)
- National Asbestos Conference (similar to the Asbestos Awareness Day, but on a national scale)
Clydebank Asbestos Group will be active as long as asbestos mining and asbestos containing products will exist. The group is sponsored by average people, like you and me, and it needs our help to be able to keep fighting against asbestos and mesothelioma.
