Asbestos sells to undeveloped countries, causing mesothelioma cancer

An important politician from Quebec is selling asbestos to undeveloped countries despite the fact that asbestos is the main health risk for developing mesothelioma cancer, which is a rare form of cancer and in most cases it is deadly.

Jean Charest is the premier of Quebec and it is accused by the people who are aware of the consequences by exposing to asbestos, as an “immoral asbestos policy”.

Known as a harmful material to people’s health and the main factor for developing one of the most aggressive forms of cancer, asbestos is recognized by the World Health Organization as a “serious health hazard”.

Despite of this warning, the government exports about 175,000 tones of asbestos every year in undeveloped countries, where people do not know the major risk that they are exposing at.

Quebec people are expressing a negative opinion against the political action developed by the premier. To defend himself the premier is talking about an economical solution which can be solved trough the exportation of asbestos, but at the same time people think that is more a political issue rather than an economical solution.

In Canada, asbestos is very common. Most of the buildings where constructed with materials containing asbestos and now they are trying to eradicate this harmful component from the environment, because they do know now the major risks of developing mesothelioma cancer.

They sale the removed materials to countries like India, Indonezia, Bangladesh and other undeveloped countries where asbestos is not known as an harmful material. For example, India is using the materials for industrial application and it is considered the most important importer of chrysotile asbestos.

And yet, the asbestos mine is banned in India, but that never stopped them by importing important quantities of this harmful material which is causing mesothelioma cancer and people come in contact with asbestos fibers without knowing that if swallowed or inhaled it can cause asbestosis.
