Earlier detection of mesothelioma made possible with a new test

Earlier detection of mesothelioma cancer could be possible, after testing conducted by an Oxford University research team. This test will allow mesothelioma doctors to treat diseases at an earlier stage, when the virus or affected tissues more vulnerable. Doctors are hoping to increase mesothelioma life expectancy due to this test.

Recent chemotherapy treatment research promising for mesothelioma

The Biomedicine and Biotechnology Journal showed that when mesothelioma cells are put under stress with the use of high temperatures, they create heat shock proteins, protecting them from the damage. After using heated chemotherapy with no effects, researchers have established that if they can stop this protein to be released, they can increase the effectiveness of the mesothelioma treatment.

Experts and the general public argue that mesothelioma cancer, a type of cancer caused by asbestos exposure, is the least researched disease in the whole of the United Kingdom.
