Chevron sued by deceased man’s family

The family of the deceased, his wife and son, blame Chevron for the misfortune. The man died from a combination of pulmonary asbestosis and lung cancer, two diseases caused by asbestos. The suit was filed June 12th by the family of Rufus Granger, former employee of Gulf Oil, which is known today as Chevron.

The man died in January of this year, after a long battle with the disease. The family says that heir loved one died a painful death. They also say that Rufus Granger was exposed to asbestos while working for Gulf Oil, by inhaling fine dust containing asbestos fibers. This type of infection can also lead to a severe type of cancer, known as asbestosis and mesothelioma, killing patients within 2 years of the initial diagnosis.

Asbestos was used in a variety of very common items, from fireproofing and insulation, to brake pads and cement. Due the fact that it has been known to cause mesothelioma cancer, the usage of the mineral has drastically decreased lately, but has not yet been completely banned in the United States. In fact, regulations say that any finished product cannot contain more than 1 percent asbestos.

The family of Rufus Granger says that regardless of the fact that they knew about the harmful effects of asbestos exposure, they did not warn their loved one about the dangers. The products manufactured by Chevron were dangerous, and the company did not warn any of it’s’ employees about this. The company did not do anything towards the safety f their employees. The family will go to all extents towards receiving as much as the court offers, at the same time hoping to give an example from their actions.
