Recent chemotherapy treatment research promising for mesothelioma

The Biomedicine and Biotechnology Journal showed that when mesothelioma cells are put under stress with the use of high temperatures, they create heat shock proteins, protecting them from the damage. After using heated chemotherapy with no effects, researchers have established that if they can stop this protein to be released, they can increase the effectiveness of the mesothelioma treatment.

The study conducted by the researchers showed that by not allowing this stress protein to be created will present with a new direction towards treating mesothelioma effectively. The main problem occurring with treating mesothelioma is that most cases of malignant mesothelioma are very advanced when they are discovered, making them almost immune to chemotherapy.

Another issue with mesothelioma cancer is that it is very rare, and by that research and other studies lack the necessary funding. Efforts so far have proved positive, but there is still the need for further testing and development in the field, which requires funding.

In some studies researchers have established that the number of mesothelioma cases will start decreasing after 2010, but recent official studies have shown the exact opposite. The number of cases will keep increasing to a steady pace for another ten or fifteen years in the United States and Europe, and in some countries the increase will be even higher.
